Replace worn or binding steering with a genuine Malibu Boats 19 ft steering cable designed for rack-and-pinion style helm/rack systems. This mechanical steering cable delivers smooth, responsive control and is ideal for restoring factory-like steering feel on compatible Malibu boats.

How to confirm the correct length

  • Check the printed part number: It’s typically printed in white lettering on the cable about 1–2 feet from the rack.
  • Read the last two digits: The cable length is indicated by the final two digits of the part number.
  • Example: SSC13415 = a 15 ft cable.

If the part number isn’t readable

  • Remove the cable and measure the plastic cable jacket (in inches).
  • Add 30 inches to your measurement.
  • Round up to the nearest foot.
  • Measure only the plastic jacket—do not include the metal connecting rod.

Good part

"Needed to replace my current steering cable due to failure. This one bolted right up and was a perfect fit on my 07 Malibu Wakesetter VTX. My only issue with this was pulling the new one back through the boat. Be sure you get a good rope that won’t cut easy while fishing it back. We had a few tight corners where it took some wiggling to get through. Other than that, real simple install."
