DIY Replacement Guide

  1. Relieve fuel pressure

    • Disconnect battery.

    • Cycle key ON → OFF to bleed pressure if the system has a Schrader valve (check your model).

    • Have a rag ready to catch fuel drips.

  2. Locate the filter

    • Follow the fuel line from the tank/pump toward the engine.

    • The inline filter is usually a small metal canister mounted on the frame rail or near the pump.

  3. Remove filter

    • Loosen clamps or fittings.

    • Carefully pull the filter free, watching for residual fuel.

  4. Install a new filter

    • Lightly oil the new O-rings with clean engine oil or fuel-safe grease.

    • Slide the filter into the fittings and tighten the clamps/fittings securely.

    • Ensure flow direction (if marked) matches fuel flow (tank → engine).

  5. Test

    • Reconnect the battery.

    • Turn the key ON (don’t start) to prime the fuel system.

    • Check for leaks.

    • Start the engine on water and let it run a few minutes, inspecting connections.

 Service Interval

  • Replace every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first (more often if fuel quality is poor or ethanol-blended gas is used).
