Malibu and Axis Factory Approved M-Series M5/M6 Oil Service Kit

PLEASE SEE!: As of 12/1/25, there is a Service Bulletin on Select M6DI motors that need to convert their oil to the 0W-40. See the link to the direct Bulletin below. If you have received a letter from Malibu, your motor is most likely in effect. If unsure please reach out and we can confirm.

0W-40 BULLETIN

If your motor falls under this recall, you will need to order the following items. 

Mobil 1 OW-40 OIL QTY 8

Second Gen oil filter QTY 1

New oil cap stating OW-40. One-time purchase, but would be covered under the bulletin and can be done for free at your local service shop. 


If your engine is subject to extreme use, such as excessive ballast weight, long idle time, low use, elevations above 5,000 ft., or commercial use, it is recommended to change oil and filter every 25 hours. See your specific owner's manual for more details or see below for the chart.

Oil change instructions

Before ordering your kit make sure to inspect your filter and see which one you have depending on when your boat was made. Below is image and the time-frame that each filter was used. If unsure, feel free to reach out with your boat's HIN and we can help you find the right one.

First Generation Filter (E100160):
Used prior to May 2020
Approximately 5.5" tall

Second Generation Filter (E100217):
Used starting in May 2020 to current
Approximately 4" tall
