Pro Tip for Water Pump Pulley

"Pro Tip: Sand the paint off the pulley where the smooth part of the belt makes contact. Sounds crazy, but I was getting belt noise and idler pulley noise. Went to my local dealer, and the mechanic said to sand the paint off. He does it to every new water pump pulley he installs for the same reason: it creates noise in the serpentine belt system."
